I'm a 64-yr-old former English teacher who decided fairly quickly to get a Concealed Carry Permit. I learned that Alan Laidlaw, a high school classmate I hadn't seen in about 45 years, was an NRA Certified Instructor. A friend, her sister and I signed up for the course. WOW !!! Much more thorough than I had expected but I was able to score 98 on the test along with my friend, and her sister got 100 ! The trip to the range was an eye-opener. We all had the chance to shoot about 10 rounds in each of at least 10 guns... from a .22 to a .45 and then some. I discovered I really liked the feel of a Glock 23. I wasn't planning on buying a gun or carrying, but I now own a Glock 19 - less recoil and cheaper ammo - and am working towards marksmanship qualifications. I am loving it but without the thorough instruction I received from Alan, I honestly don't think I'd be in this place now. He's involved with a youth shooting program through High Rock Shooting Association so you know he is a patient instructor. He gets high marks from me if you're interested in checking out the possibilities.
