Alan W. Laidlaw

Alan has over 29 years of firearms experience, with
handguns, rifles, and shotguns. At 7 years of age his Dad started him out shooting skeet and trap with a .410 shotgun, and by the time he was 10 he was shooting his Dad's 16 and 12 gauge guns. He first learned to shoot handguns during his six years of service in the US Navy, 1963 - 1969.  He is currently  licensed to carry a handgun in 34 states.

He has been a private pilot and airplane owner for over 28 years. He has taught private pilot ground school and basic flight instruction as a cadet orientation pilot and a search and rescue pilot for the Civil Air Patrol. He was a tractor trailer driver / instructor for over 23 years. For many years he worked part time as a ski instructor for both youth and adult skiers. He also enjoys teaching primary and adult Sunday School classes and served as the cub master for his church's Cub Scout Troop.

He brings his passion for teaching to the Connecticut Firearms Industry. As an NRA Certified Instructor in both pistol and rifle, and an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Alan currently volunteers as a Small Bore Rifle Coach for his gun club's youth team.* His courses will be fun and educational but will stress, above all else, Safety, Safety and Safety!

*High Rock Shooting Association's youth team is open to all youth under age 19. There is no charge to either the youth or their parents. Our club supplies all the instruction, small bore rifles, (22 caliber), all ammo and safety equipment. We shoot every Sunday afternoon. For more info, please contact us.
